RETINAL
PHOTOGRAPHY
"A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words"
Our office is proud to offer the latest technology in retinal diagnostic testing. Retinal photography which was just recently the domain of the largest retinal clinics and hospitals is now available through our office for just a fraction of the cost. It provides us a photographic record of the major internal structures of your eyes.
After taking the photos, the doctor is better able to detect subtle changes in the retina. This allows him or her to recommend or begin treatment that may actually prevent vision loss.
The retinal camera gives advantages over examining the retina with the direct scope.
Retinal photos can assist in early detection of retinal problems like retinal detachment, holes or thinning, optic nerve disease, pre-cancerous lesions, macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma changes and others.
Photos are especially important for patients over 35 years of age and those with personal or family history of high blood pressure, diabetes, retinal problems, headaches, strong glasses prescription, borderline or high eye pressures or glaucoma. We recommend having photos taken every eye health and vision examination for best comparison of findings.
