When you’re ready to head outdoors and see what the surrounding streets of Raleigh have to offer, we recommend walking about 10 minutes to enter the nearby Crabtree Creek Trail, which stretches 12 miles through Raleigh forestland, residential neighborhoods, and city parks. If you look closely, you’ll see elm, ash, river birch, pine, and poplar trees. There is a scenic view of Crabtree Creek, and a trek through the Lassiter Mill Park will expose you to the former sites of the Lassiter Mill Dam and a grist mill that dates back to 1764. You can bring a picnic and spread your blanket near the bird-watching gazebo to catch sight of blue herons and waterfowl.
